Default 2008 - soft top question

Is my top peeling apart? There are holes forming on both sides near the frame bar currently that I just noticed. I did replace the elastic straps when I got this car used two years ago. I just ordered modifry straps again seeing as how they are two years old now. Plus I always help pull the bar down when I put the top down. I'm confused as to why it has a hole already.

I'm not as worried about the holes as I am the rest of the top. It looks like it's peeling apart, for lack of a better word. Is this normal? I took a pic of the general area and two close up so you can see what I'm talking about.

Is this normal or how should I fix this? I don't feel like I should have to replace the top already but if I do are robins tops better than oem as far as durability and what about cloth vs vinyl?

Thanks.

When I had my soft top clean, I put Velcro on the part of metal where it would rub on the top. I also sanded down the edge smooth so it would be less abrasive.

Mine feel smooth but I'm going to go over it with some sand paper. Still wondering about the outside seam though.

If the top is OEM, I'd take to a Honda dealer and complain. I haven't seen this problem described before and am thinking a Mfg.'s defect.
If they agree, you may be able to get a new top. If they disagree, carry the case to The Honda Corporation via letters and pictures.
It's not hard to imagine full or partial reimbursement or replacement.

Interesting... Even for a 5 year old car with 76k miles?

I don't know what their response or explanation may be but worth a try.

I found the tsb, so on it, it does state if the car is out of warranty that they will consider making a goodwill repair. Sigh. Dealing with a dealership is usually worse than dental work. Should I take or mention the tsb when I take it in? I'll probably call first to make an appointment of course...
