4.77 gear
Hey guys.
Tried Google and got very limited information.
I will be putting an ap2 transmission in my ap1 and I'm trying to decide if 4.77 rear end would be to short for a DD and a little track time.
Than you
Titus

4.77 plus the shorter AP2 ratios is going to rev very high on the freeway and require a lot of shifting.
I'd try the AP2 tranny alone first, see if the 4% shorter gears are enough. If not, all you need to do is swap the secondary gear in the tranny to make it 8% shorter. The days of changing the rear end gears are pretty much gone now that companies offer secondary gear choices. The rear end gears were always tricky to get shimmed perfectly and expensive.

Thank you guys for the info. I will be getting a puddymod stage 2 diff and was throwing around the idea of the 4.77. The 4.44 is more and 4.56/7 are not available. Thinking stock might be better but I also want that small kick from the 4.77. I will have to look up the transmission gear and do some reading.
