Gears for the AP2. Really makes a difference?
Ok guys, i was told how much the gears for the rear helps with speed... But is it worth it on the AP2?
i searched but i dont fully understand the differences. i keep seeing 4.77 gears but at the same time, not good on top end right? whats the best all around one that will make me fast, yet has good top end and saves me gas by not putting my at higher revs?
I was told this is mainly useful for AP1's. dang i'm fried on this!

I got the 4.56 and a comptech s/c and it feels perfect, rev is kinda of high but I don't mind that much...I don't think I'll be able to live with 4.77...even if I didn't have the s/c...

in the AP2 tranny, gears 1-4 are shorter & 5-6 are taller than those in the AP1. Also, there's a shorter 2ndary reduction gear in the AP2 tranny. What that means is, even with the same FD gear in both cars, the AP2 behaves like an AP1 with 4.44 FD gear in 1-4 gear.
if you want a fun car that will run through the revs really fast, go for the 4.77. if you're to save gas, stay with the stock gear. if you want a compromise of the two, consider the 4.44 or 4.56.
i do plan on posting more simulations on this thread when i have some time to mess around with matlab.

stay tuned if you want to know what the different gear options would look like on an AP2.
