Default 4.77 gears

I have a 04 AP2 with 4.77 gears, Stage 2 Brian Crower Cams, and Megan Racing 3inch exhaust! Im fixing to purchase a Rotrex c38 Supercharger. But how will it do with my gears should i go back to stock or see how it does with the gears? Comment please!

You're crazy for having 4.77s in an AP2 as it is. Definitely get rid of 'em for boost.

Just whats so wrong in your opinion for having 4.77's on an AP2?

I've currently got 4.44's on my AP2 and love it!!
I don't race/autocross and would like even more pull..
I also use the car as a DD 80% around town(20-50mph) driving..
I don't feel the car or me will suffer it I can only acheive 133mph
max in 6th gear...
and my bit of interstate traverel is very small....so what I'm running
4800 at 80mph?

4.77's on an AP2 will certainly make the car slower once you are moving. Each gear is way too short. Especially once you add boost!

I had 4.77's in my AP1. It was fun around town but on the highway it really felt like it was a bit slower than with stock gearing. Did a whole lot of revving for not much acceleration.
At 80 mph in 6th I was at 5k rpm's.
4.44's would be good for an NA AP2.

Why not leave them in, and if you dont like them, then take them out?

4.77 gears are too short to most people's taste in an AP2. If I had an AP2, I'd have 4.44s. I currently have 4.56s in my AP1. No need to get touchy.

pm you the other day. yea, it will certainly "feel" faster, but you will definitely be slower. you we be slower because you have to shift more. it is kinda hard to grasp but, since the top speed of each gear will decrease. going x mph in a 4.77 in y gear will have a much higher rpm than going x mph in y gear with 4.10. so say driving around town, if you are used to shifting at 3500 rpm with 4.10, you will either go slower shifting at the same rpm or you will have to shifter at a much higher rpm.

4.44 is probably the best combo for ap2, 4.77 is a little much. but hey, if you want to feel faster but dont mind being slower than go right ahead.

Having gone from an AP1 to 4.77's then put in an AP2 tranny I barely used 1st gear. If you go SC then forget it!

Go back to stock!
