I'm glad Mocky spoke up about his experiences with 4.77s on an AP2.

My thought about this is, if you're making the change already then you may as well go full out on the upgrade. How bad is it really to rev 200rpm higher? That's nothing.

I think 4.77s are good for daily driving, but when racing you'll spend so much more time shifting you'll top out and the stock geared car will pull you at higher speeds, I can't keep up with my friends 4.77 in normal driving. but when racing from the top of 4th and on his car just hits a wall and I easily pull on him. I plan on upgrading to the 4.44s, they will not FEEL as fast the 4.77s because they don't multipl as much torque, but they'll be better for racing imo at least...

I agree with you here. With the 4.77s on the track I've been stuck in turns unable to shift but dancing around right on the rev limiter with the red "SHIFT! SHIFT!" indicator light flashing on the tach.

Because the OP didn't indicate tracking as a possibility, that's why I'm still all-for 4.77s. If he tracks it then I'd recommend more modest.

I am blown away that a shop with the overhead of Rent, insurance, payroll, specialty tools, electric, and everything else that goes with opening up the doors of a shop everyday, can do it for that little money.
With all that is required and all that you say they did for only $250. There is absolutely no way they broke even with the job, they had to have lost money.

I had for tires mounted and balanced on a set of rims today. The rims were off the car and I had a dismount of the old tires and mount along with a balance of all 4 wheels. Total cost with nitrogen was $104, The job took 25 minuets.

Yeah, but you have an AP1, the ap2 tranny is shorter in 1-4th, and dont forget the much much shorter redline as well... I think 4.77s are decent for an ap1, but cant even imagine then on the ap2.

I'm aware of that. I referred to my experience on the track with my car, which means it would be amplified on the track in an AP2. But on the street my personal opinion is that AP2+4.77s is not an issue.
