2) Ap1 has shorter gearing in 1st-4th, so it would be kind of steep. Probably around a 5.10 gear. But on the highway 5th and 6th gears are longer. More like a 4.56
AP2 has shorter gearing

Great little write up!!!! I've had 4.77's now in my AP2 for a little under a year, and I LOVE it!!!

If you think they're great and 'rippy' in an AP1, try them in an AP2! Hooottttttttt.

And my $.02, probably THE best mod you could do for the money, for your S2000, would be gears... ANYTHING... 4.44's, 4.56's, or even the agressive 4.77's!

One last thing, for the people that say, that 4.77's are too agressive for city driving, and you have to shift too much..... Go cry me a river; You shouldn't own a manual vehicle, much less one with a 6spd gearbox... MUCH less one with aftermarket gearing!

Stick to an automatic or DSG

Sorry, but this statement is completely incorrect.
AP2 transmission is shorter overall, just about every gear.
AP1 transmissions, will also take you up to about 61-63mph at the top of 2nd gear.. while in an AP2, 2nd gear will only take you to about 57-59mph, needing another upshift into 3rd to make a 0-60mph run.

Go and drive an AP2 and an AP1 and see the difference for yourself.... Unless you were driving an AP1 with AP2 wheels, headlights, and bumpers.. and you were poorly fooled!!!!

sorry guys my bad. I mean to type Ap2, not Ap1, I changed it!!

Ap2 does have longer gears in 5th 6th. I have tested that out personally with transmissions on the same car

Best setup is

Ap1 with Ap2 tranny and 4.77 gears.
