The first thing I would recommend would be a compression/leakdown test and a valve adjustment. Set some money aside for when your TCT goes as well(about $120-$160). If that is all gravy then you re good to go in the engine department.

I would mention the other items to do requiring the tranny and diff but you probably know what to do...If you don't then ask away. Just make sure you have about 2-3k as emergency replacement money in case a part does go. Remember to change your fluids in your engine/tranny/clutch/diff/brake and coolant.

First 2 things to "upgrade" in a car with that amount of mileage wound be the brakes and suspension.

with 10k in uprgades you'll likely be changing out many of the worn parts! Also an 85k s2k will be CHEAP affording more goodies :-)

If you plan on keeping it for awhile then go ahead and mod it. The S2000 is a great and reliable platform. If you don't plan on keeping it much long, save your money, 10k is a lot either way.

Thanks! Is the TCT repair an easy one or should I find a qualified mechanic for that?

Hmm, what do you mean for the tranny and diff? I will probably spend the money to replace all the fluids before buying my first mod so I know she is fresh and ready to go.

Yeah, brakes and suspension are my first thoughts...a good set of coilovers and new brake lines, pads, and rotors.

Haha well that would be the hope that I would change out all the worn out part...I just don't know how many miles the chassis itself can take...it's already getting a few creaks.

^^ TCT is not that hard to replace...there is even a write up that takes you step by step. I believe it takes about 15-20 min.

Here is a DIY,
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=808383

Fluids are the first thing that need to be replaced for the tranny and diff. But also, if you are putting on coilovers you might end up with with a vibration in the rear.

Here is a link that explains more(bet you didn't know that it would be a good idea to get this looked at)...
https://www.s2ki.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=241367

Along with rear axle bearings...Here's another link,

you probably do not have any of these problems but these are common problems to be aware of since you are approaching close to 100k and putting on coilovers. Which might disrupt something in that area since everything was set in place at stock height for 85k miles and minor problems may occur when you lower the car. It may be that nothing may be happen...But I'm letting you know all this just so you are prepared for the worst. I would also recommend doing each mod apart from the other so you can enjoy each and every mod individually(very good feeling to feel the difference of every mod).
