Default ACT clutch kit

Guys,

The time has come for the S to get an aftermarket clutch kit as the OEM one has run it's course.

The car is used mainly for street but sees some track time.. (1-2 times per month)

I am between these two clutch kits..I understand that one of the two is a bit more track oriented.

Street Sprung (organic)

This is the Race Sprung 6 Pad

I am trying to decide between the 2 and any input would be helpful. I would like the extra durability of the 6pad disk but I am not sure how stressful will be on other parts of the car..i.e. gearbox

What do you guys suggest?

P.S. =
Since I will be opening the car up, should i throw one of these in as well?? Pros and Cons?

Act pressure plate with oem disc. Thats what myself and a lot of people on this forum run. It holds great and feel almost stock. I would stay away from ANYTHING puck if you drive on the street.

Go with the proven combo of: ACT HD PP, OEM Friction Disk and AP1 Flywheel. I just had it done and it's great. Seems to be the most recommended for street use with some track. For all track action, you may want to go with something else, depending on how much power you plan on putting down.

Why not just put an OEM clutch back on the car? Your mods don't dictate a need for an aftermarket clutch.

thanks for the interest guys..
The Oem one is like double the price (or more) where I come from..so it is a nono
I found the ACT organic kit locally (http://www.advancedclutch.com/hs2-hdss) for a really good price..like 530euro
so i am going for it..I also drove a s2000 last night that has the ACT setup that i am going for and I really liked it..So we are good to go

The question is if i am also going for the ACT streetlight flywheel..11 lbs
According to my math my Ap1 flywheel is 14lbs..The OEM clutch and friction plate is 14lbs (so is the ACT kit). That is a total of 28lbs
-Act kit (or OEM clutch with OEM plate) + ACT Streetlight flywheel = 14 + 11 = 25 lbs

28 / 25 = 1.12 times faster rpm rise..So roughly that translates to being at 5500ish rpm instead of 5000rpm if everything else remains the same..
I cannot justify it worth the extra money..And no i am not willing to go for the ACT prolight which is reaaaally light..
Opinions? Am i missing anything?

If you're worried about price, why not just replace the OEM friction disc, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. Keep your existing pressure plate and have your existing flywheel resurfaced. Then you have an OEM clutch that will last you another 100k miles.

You aren't going to like that ACT friction disc.

ok. So i drove 2 s2000s over the past few days, both running ACT clutch kit with the heavy duty pressure plate and ACT friction disc..
I actually liked it! both of them..the one was also running the ACT prolite lightweight flywheel! I reaaaally liked that one! I guess i am goinf to be getting the flywheel also!

I hope those parts work out for you. Seems that 50% of posts here are about aftermarket clutch noises/problems.

Good luck!

I personally have used ACT, Competition Clutch, and Clutchmaster in my S2k's. I found the best setup is the Competition Clutch "0100" kit which is their stage 2 full face disc, but with an unsprung hub. I like the feel/drive-ability of the clutch with their flywheel, but pairing it with the stock flywheel will net you a smoother transition between gears and make take off cake. I prefer the unsprung hub just for the responsiveness and the overall feel. I don't think a pucked clutch or a heavy flywheel is needed for these cars under 450hp.

If you are dead set on the ACT go with the HDSS full face sprung. The pedal is heavy but once you get over that it drives pretty well and has proven to have a good lifespan.
