Default Added Weight?

I know I shouldn't worry too much but I have been thinking about my car's weight lately (I'm OCD...). So I am contemplating removing my softtop because of the added weight from my harddog rollbar, OEM top, and Voltex Type II wing.

The thing is I love the practicality with the softtop for the droptop days. What are your thoughts on
my cars weight with my added safety accessories? Any long-term effects?

My AP2 is mainly my weekend warrior/track car so what are your thoughts/suggestions?

its a tough choice, ive contemplated for a while. remove the ST and you are about 40lbs lighter, but really dont have an easy top day road trip. in your case it seems you wouldnt miss out much, plus you can sell the soft top if its in good condition, thats a plus

I had a CR and will now gut the soft top from my S2k race car. I missed top down so much I bought a Miata as a daily lol. I say keep it for now until those track days become competition days.

Unless a track only car I don't see the point. Shave what 40 lbs?? Lose the ability to go top down and not worry about a possible storm or anything. Not worth it at all for me. You will never notice the weight difference without it on the street at all! Get a test pipe or something to make up the 4 hp equivalent removing the top would give.

here's a compromise, remove just the soft top motors and make your it into a manual soft top. unless you have already done this

40lbs is nothing. Not even a noticeable difference while driving. Keep the soft top

depends on why you bought the S2k... I bought it cause it was fun to drive. I didn't buy it cause it's a convertible.

I removed it cause of the weight savings (it's closer to 60lbs), which has a side effect of:
- better gas mileage (not noticeable, but still...
- better handling
- better braking
- less crap I have to worry about not working (ie. soft top motors)
- roof button now operates my garage door opener
- don't have to worry about finding my top cut open if I park anywhere

and when I remove the hardtop and store it, I appreciate the top down drive far more.

But you have a wing... wing + top down looks ridiculous.

If you ever plan on removing your hardtop to go top down than leave it in (which from the sound of it you do). If you are like me and have no desire to drive top down than pull it out. I have had no softtop for over five years and have never regret it. I don't like convertibles.

Lose the spare tire boss... or go on the Jenny Craig diet and lose some fat off ur butt, 40lb isn't enough to worry about

Depends entirely on your mind set. I take all unnecessary weight out of my car in a quest to make it lighter and therefore faster. Every pound helps.
