Pressure plate is a cheap part. I've seen those before (in person). Im sure the clutch disc is good but it's irrelevant if the pressure plate is weak. Why do you think the whole kit costs $300? It's the price of the disc and throw out bearing.

"You saw it"??Just to let you know, my PP AND friction disk, that i bought as "exedy OEM" both had "HONDA" stamped on it. so unless you're calling the OEM PP and disk "cheap crap"
so, maybe your eyes tricked you...or you saw a more generic one.
The disk on the exedy OEM is the upgraded disk that all the newer s2k's use (non buzz) the PP is also the newer "lighter" design so if youre coming from a AP1, the clutch pedal will get lighter whether you like it or not. The only part that didnt have OEM stamps on it was the pilot and throwout bearing, but they ARE made in Japan, so I have a feeling it might be the same as what honda uses.
I <3. the "Exedy OEM" clutch kit.

Ebay is the cheapest!

Exedy OEM is same as Spoon street clutch. Holds well, double springs on the disk opposed to single spring on OEM Honda. Smoother/lighter petal.

ap2 pressure plate is crap hence the reason why I'm looking at upgrading when the car only has 36k miles on it.
I'm leaning toward getting the competition clutch package which include pressure plate, clutch disc, and lightweight flywheel. for a pretty descent price.

I've used the OEM AP2, Spoon, & OEM Exedy. ALL Pressure Plates had the same Part #s on them. (Not Crap because sold on Ebay)
I also compared all three friction disks. Spoon & OEM Exedy has dual springs. OEM had only single springs.
Spoon & Exedy petal feel is much lighter than OEM. Makes shifting quickly at the track/road course very smooth.
My motor makes 217whp and never slipped with Exedy/Spoon re-badge clutch. I've recently made more mods, but yet to dyno. I'll let you know if the clutch holds. I'm confident it will.
I know some FI/SC members who use OEM and don't slip, so I think NA shouldn't be any problem for OEM Exedy.
