Default aem ems 30-1012

basically i bought this ems 30-1012 used because i got it so cheap.. without doing alot of research just the fact that it was an aem ems which is exactly what i was looking for.

the guy said it works for s2000's 00-03 he had it on his 00 i have an 00 and figured it would surely work.. i have the ems in hand but my laptop does not have the 9 pin plug.. just bought a 9 pin to usb adaptor off ebay for 3 dollars shipped.. waiting on that plug to shop up untill i try to install this thing and get it tuned.

Any info from anyone useing this ems would be greatly appreciated

the research i have done is that the 9 pin plug to usb adaptor gives the tuner problems.. but id rather spend 3 dollars for an adaptor plug and hopefully it works, rather then buy a new comp with a 9 pin input.

also when you type into google this number does come up as an ems for a 00 s2k .. but why is everyone useing the 30-1052.. could it be that this is just an older model? if so by getting the latest software would it not be equivalent to the 30-1052 just with a different connection to your computer?

TIA
John

The 1012 is just the older EMS...it is physically bigger, so it doesn't fit where the oem ecu would go. The 1052 will fit in the same place as the oem ecu.

But the 1012 will work fine.

ok good... i cant believe the price difference.. i cant find a 1052 for under a grand and i got the 1012 under 500 shipped..

can it be modified to fit in the same spot.. or do i have to extend all the harness and mount the ems somewhere else?

If its bigger than the stock ECU i'm pretty sure you'll have to relocate it...not a lot a room under there.

Really? Where can they be had for under $500? If I could get an EMS that cheap id put ITBs on my car.

Waaaay back when, before the 1052, folks would put the 1012 under the driver's seat.
