Default AEM Intake hydrolock water

wow I read the hydrolock threads but this is no joke! if i had started my car today my engine would be gone for sure there was about a litre of water in my AEM intake tube!

I only installed it a few days ago and duct taped off what i thought were the drain holes I noticed the swaybar was broke so i left the front on jackstands for the mean time

The intake has a rubber valve/teat near where the water sits you can drain the water out is this standard or added?
the water on mine wasnt sitting in the right place for it to work

You would not have hydrolocked your motor by starting it.

Why was there that much water in your intake tube? Did you park in a lake?

Yeah I would definitely stay away from the cai unless you build some sort of guard for it.
No better gains than a K&N FIPK and all the risk of hydrolock. I have been through many puddles in the past where I am pretty damn sure I would have been sucking up lots of water if I had an AEM or similar intake.

How did a liter of water get into your intake pipe if the car wasn't moving?

The water has to actually make it to the cylinders in large quantities. IF there is just water in the intake pipe without the intake pipe completely submerged in water, the water will just gurgle and bubble like a straw in a nealy empty drink.
