Air Box modification
I am looking at modifying my airbox on my AP@. I was wondering what is the big advantage of this mod.
Is it just for sound or is there a power benefit? I am new to the S200, if someone can give me some direction here that would be great.
Thank you

No big advantages.
The LHT airbox mod is easy and just costs you a bit of time. I don't think there are any dyno numbers on it but they claim it sounds faster.
Sound alone is the major benefit although K&N and AEM have some dyno numbers showing small power increases. Sounds faster = is faster.
Whatever you do don't remove the airbox cover and leave it off. This robs power.
What year is your "S200 AP@?"

You just had to didn't you Chuck?
what really caught my eye was "modifying my airbag..."
Modding the stock airbox might increase power a tad so give it a try if you want to. Just ensure that you don't run it without the lid on as this negates the advantage of heat protection. Heat soak will cause your ECU to pull timing thereby making your car slower. Lots of turbulence around the air filter with the lid off as well which doesn't help anything...with the lid on that scoop up front helps direct air more...directly into the airbox somewhat like a ram effect. I love the stock airbox! Honda engineered it extremely well. Yeah I'd like to run a PWJDM or J's Tsuchinoko, those are awesome too but just like Spoon said - the stock Honda S2000 airbox is very good so they stick with it even in their endurance race S2000's
I on the other hand found that dropping in an Apexi dual funnel filter in place of my OEM one (in the un-modded stock airbox with lid on) exhibited a tangible power increase.

I connected a 3" hose with 90 degree elbow to rbe side of airbox, piped to that opening in passenger fender. The temp of air coming through there is significantly cooler than air over radiator to stock air horn.
This more than doubles air volume available to box,and gives a nice increase in sound. I paired this with typical interior box mods of removing that elbow duct and reducing height of divider (I left a small ridge to protect against at least some water ingestion).
I plan to later to add a scoop in front of radiator piped to that hose. I may block offstock horn at that time after some experimenting.

I always felt my J's Racing snorkel was the best intake mod, the car ran so much more consistently throughout the day once that was in place being able to suck in cooler air, and it was completely safe from water issues.
That's all good and well and I'm glad it worked out for you. the increase in volume of air and tone makes sense too. Thing is, I'm really not keen on gutting my box, cutting holes anywhere, etc. Wouldn't a snorkel like the Spoon or J's Racing one have much of the same effect as your pipe mod?
Those snorkels all are not cheap
My car still looks stock
Many of those snorkels hit the hood, rub paint off or cause vibes
Snorkel design is pinched as it curves over radiator support

Fair enough. I'd like to run one for the experience before I venture into the supercharged portion of my build.
I had the version that was made for the oem box/hood fitment, never had any fitment issues with it and it looked good. After switching to the Mugen intake I didn't really feel much of a benefit , though the Mugen looked amazing and I loved that intaike, but the J's racing snorkel on the oem box worked just as well IMO. Not a cheap snorkel but worth the cost if you can find a used one.
