You have to mess with the timing to get that kind of power too though. And like I said, bringing the vtec down to 4k on a stock header isn

Just read through your last post: the partial throttle makes much more sense. Still 4k vtec, oem header scares me. You should be only doing that with the high end headers like Js

more very serious, indirect problems than anything. If you're constantly in vtec which you pretty much would be under any freeway driving, you're consuming A LOT more oil. The last thing i would want is to be cruising in vtec for an hour, come to a stop, and then punch it at a stop light or something with very low oil in the car.

If you're checking it regularly, you would catch it before it's a problem. But you'll be buying a lot more oil to compensate.

But if vtec engagement works like you say it does, then it may not be much of a concern. As long as your not running too lean and there's always enough oil in the car there may not be any immediate threats.

It's just not how i would run the car on an oem header.

just with those 3 bolt ons wont do much for the 06 s2k, not enuff increase for the money TRUE, but if you get those 3 bolt ons and get either EMS and good tuning or hondata reflash now your putting that header to use, im thinking with the hondata reflash and J's I/H/E your looking at bout 25whp, give or take.
Probably, you are right. I remember that there is still another advantage... weight reduction.
For ECU, I think that there isn'it a product for MY06 AP1. Is it true?

VTEC doesn't use oil it just operates on oil pressure...its just uses more fuel because you are allowing more air to enter the combustion chamber(more lift). If you can make more power at 4k VTEC engagement point then more power to you. The only thing it will affect is gas mileage.

It's not always in VTEC though. I wouldn't do that... that would be insane. It is throttle position activated, so it won't come on unless I want it to come on. And trust me, it doesn't come on that much at all unless I'm going full throttle.

It's perfect because I do a lot of Auto-Xing and coming out of those low speed turns, I have the available power to punch out of the turn.

Gas Mileage... it really hasn't changed that much at all considering that the only place fuel was really added was in a range that I would only touch during spirited driving, in which case even if you have a stock S2k, you're still going to use up a lot of fuel anyway.

high performance and miles per gallon doesnt co-exist, it all depends on what you want out of your car, as for reliablitly i doubt changing the vtec engagement, and fuel mapping will ruin the longivity of the life on the motor. all you probably need is to replace a few wear and tear items more frequently such as... oil changes, cam seals, and perhaps even timing chain slides.

alot of R&D in these motors, wont break down to just a slight tuning such as the earlier vtec engagement and fuel mapping.
