One of my other favourite mods with improved cold air feed to the intake is a vented hood to exhaust underhood heat. Get a good cold air feed to the intake and a vented hood and your intake manifold temps will be drastically lower in constant speed driving compared to the factory setup. The benefits of reduced intake manifold temps are hard to quantify or measure on a dyno but in street driving conditions very beneficial. My J's racing Type S hood with either the Mugen intake or the oem air box with J's racing snorkel was a great combination, cool air into the intake and cooler manifold temps worked great together.
That makes a lot of sense. If only the J's or Mugen or Spoon hoods were more affordable haha

I also have a vented OEM hood AND a heat tape wrapped OEM header.

I can touch my header with a bare hand right after a 20 minute session.

Impressive. did you have to remove the header to wrap it?

You must first grind off all the heat shield tabs, it's not fun.
You could get away with 50ft. x 1 inch but you'd likely hate yourself for not buying 2 rolls of 50ft x 1 inch.

This is the second time I've done this. If you have questions just ask.

This was done on my S if anyone has any questions. I agree with many of you saying that it's hard to argue weather there are any gains with out a clean before and after dyno with out the header/Tp/flashpro. I do feel a stronger midrange punch with this increased air flow thru the airbox mod/header/tp and it sounds sweet thru the stock exhaust, not too loud she has a nicer purrr now.
It did 229whp/156tq with just these mods.

Why the 1" vs 2" wrap?
