Default Anyone done this?

I'd like to know if it is legal to remove the 2 muffler canisters and just replace them with straight pipe.
And that will get better the sound?

The only thing I could see that may make it illegal is if its too loud for where you live. It's not necessarily a better sound but it is louder and will have more drone. I did it on mine then put test pipe on and quickly put some mufflers on it a week or so later because I didn't like the sound.

What I meant is remove the 2 mufflers in the back of the OEM exhaust but leave the resonator and the cat on.

I thought about doing the same thing before I put on an invidia N1 dual. I would imagine it would be too loud to cope with on a daily basis. The reason I didn't do it was because I didn't want to cut up my stock exhaust and be stuck with it. You could find a used oem exhaust for cheap and modify that. I would like to know how it works out; it would sound pretty sick for autox, but I don't know about on the road.

2 out of 4 of my S' have had the mufflers deleted and replaced with straight stainless tubing and sound fantastic. Use a quality set of resonated tips and you'll love it.

Yes, sounds great IMO. I have this done to mine as well, but I have a test pipe too. Stock header, stock mid pipe and resonator with a 3" axle-back muffler delete. It sounds good and aggressive, but it's quiet enough while cruising that you can keep a conversation in the cabin.

Actually that's what my current setup is. Invidia test pipe, no resonator, flowmaster 40s. Sounds great!
