2 out of 4 of my S' have had the mufflers deleted and replaced with straight stainless tubing and sound fantastic. Use a quality set of resonated tips and you'll love it.
Do you have pics and a video?
I've put it off forever, I'll try to get and upload it tomorrow eve. I subscribed to the thread to make sure I don't forget lol.

Of course it was loud and droned, it was bouncing off the ground and reflecting off the underside of your car like a tunnel

because racecar

Pointless. Why pay $XXXX.xx for the same amount of power (nearly zero) and less sound quality? I'll have to get a vid up.

And I have no clue why anyone would want a test pipe with this setup; I tried that for 1 whole day and said f@#k that and welded the cat back in. Made it raspy and OMG loud at 4k +.

I don't have any pictures of the setup. It's pretty simple though, just pipes instead of mufflers and some nice tips on the end.

Yes it is simple, but the OEM exhaust has some large rear canisters which fill in a lot of space in the rear, so a rear view shot would be great if possible!

Thanks. It doesn't have that flutter on decel that 99% of aftermarket cans do, which is nice, and the sound intensity is controlled by throttle input, or load, when cruising. So, if you're breathing on the throttle when cruising, it's barely louder than stock. Like I said, if you aren't looking for a power increase, and only want a good exhaust note, this is the way to do it. Under 50 bucks in my case, deleted 42 lbs of weight as well.

To build: cut pipes about 1" from where they connect to the muffler, bend and weld in a 63mm pipe on each side to right before the exhaust cutouts in the bumper, weld on 2 tips after lining up the pipes, and then weld in 2 hangers to hold them in place (one on each side). Done.

If you have an exhaust shop do it and you supply your own tips, it'll probably cost maybe 100, and that is on the very high side. Shouldn't be more than 60-75, especially since 99% of them will be crush bending the pipes (mandrel machines are rare in exhaust shops that do regular work).

Perspective: I've got less invested in 4 S' custom exhaust systems than some people on here have in a single cat-back (a ton less in some cases). And give up zero exhaust quality to any that I've heard to date.
