Default Anyone had experience with AEM EMS?

been looking around for an all round aftermarket ECU and stumbled across the expensive AEM ECU...

just wandering if anyone has got this? and their opinions on it..

looks good for the ultimate engine tuning, good show of parameters etc. and complete control...

Alot of people have it, look around.

It is hands down the best tuning device. Theres pretty much nothing you cant do with it, if you have the money go for it. It is a must if your going for forced induction.

Although if your staying NA and on a budget take a look at the apexi vafc2 and the greddy e-manage. Theyre alot cheaper but they both get you sufficient gains and should be enough if your planning to stay NA. I gained about 8whp with the vafc2 and it cost around $200. It still gets the job done, just not as good or thorough as the AEM EMS.

I'm a big nerd when it comes to computer gadgets etc... so a laptop in the car to tune it would be awesome!!

Just wandering how simple the software is to use and the complexity of mapping...any guides/tutorials would be helpful because can't get to sleep at 4am in scotland

Honestly I wouldnt tune myself if I didnt know what I was doing. Also the only proper way to tune it IMO is to get it on a dyno and have a pro do it. Just remember tuning isnt something you do everyday for you to just carry the laptop around, youll probably only tune it once or twice, maybe more if you get mods afterwards. Ill wait till someone that actually has the AEM EMS to pitch in and see how user friendly it is.

This forum can help:

But gb is right...you can screw the car up big time if you don't know what you are doing.

I know MASE travels to the UK on occasion to tune and he is a well respected AEM EMS tuner. But if you're interested, send him a PM...he's mase1 on s2ki.
