Cool. Lets see how it comes out. Maybe do something unique with colored stitching or something.

Default It’s done!

Got the leather re-upholstered with blue stitching. Then I put it in the freezer for about 4 hours.(This makes the metal contract) Then I installed the top and bottom pieces using a vice.

Wow, nice!

You could start a shift knob restoration service.

Looks great! So what was the process? Heat the Al portion with a heat gun and just pull apart?

Anyone looking to get this done, should msg Sweidit on FB or IG. He did an oem knob recently and a mugen knob.

Hmm, don't recall seeing this thread before. FWIW, I countersunk my AP2 knob, and in the process, the top part popped off (maybe it was from the heat or pressures generated). I should've replaced the leather at that time too, oh well. I did end up adding some washers to the hollow top section using silicone to weigh it down as I like a heavier weight shift knob.

All the shift knobs look great though!

Great job. I have a spare knob w/leather removed. It's been sitting in my drawer for close to 10years. I've been meaning to try torching it to separate the pieces. Care to elaborate how you did it?
