AP1 Curt Hitch
My wife and I autocross our '03 S2000, and when we travel, well, you know the ladies don't pack light, right? ;-) I have an aluminum "Hitch-Haul" that we've used for years on other cars to carry tires, canopies, folding chairs, coolers, etc. I installed a Curt hitch right after I bought the car last year. At the time, I had a custom single exit exhaust. After trying a couple of different exhaust setups and getting tired of wearing earplugs on trips, I went to put the stock exhaust back on. What I found is that it wouldn't go back on with the hitch mounted according to the instructions. I tried it with the hitch installed and I tried taking the hitch off, mounting the exhaust, then putting the hitch back on. The two big bolts in the frame rail hit the stock mufflers about an inch forward of the end cap. I tried pushing, pulling, twisting and cussing and couldn't get it to go. I ended up moving the hitch back about 2" and mounting it to the bumper support mounts instead of the frame rails. I did add an extra bolt to the right side mounting flange so both sides have 3 mounting bolts. I'm just curious if anyone else has had the same issue with an AP1. I looked up the AP2 Curt hitches and I can see they redesigned them to wrap around the mufflers instead of mounting behind them.
