Default ARC Intake

A friend of friend is selling his arc intake. Was wondering if anyone had any thoughts/experiance w/ this intake.
Would be picking it up Thursday. He mentioned that it would work w/ my MY06 if I cover up an extra outlet
that was used for < 05' My 06' is stock ( other than TP ) w/ a good amount of track time use. Price I should
expect to pay??

waste of money, i would get another intake unless its crazy cheap,

aem makes more power but the arc looks better in the engine bay

arc went bankrupt cause their parts are just TOO expensive and make next to nothing gains.

Quick question to everyone. I replaced my stock airfilter with a K&N. ($50.00 or so) I noticed that the filter actually fits inside of a plastic black enclosure inside the engine compartment. Should I leave the top to the box off to give the filter better access to free flow of air?

leave it on, or you going to heat soak your engine and loss power

I had the arc intake before my J's. I payed $400 for it and sold it for $450. I installed heat reflective tape to the back side of the intake box. Here in north carolina it is usually 90-100 degrees during the summer. One day when it was hot I did a test, I went on some back roads near my house and gave my car h3ll for about 15 mins, then I drove back to my house through town(lots of stopping and 25mph speed limit). When I go home I popped my hood, to my surprise no part of my arc chamber or intake was not hot to touch( it was warm, the intake manifold was alot hotter). If i had am IR thermometer back then I would have used it to get the temps. My point is the ARC intake is not the under hood "oven" that most people that have never owned one make it out to be.

Don't let everyone else make your decision, its you car. If you want it get it used and if you don't like it chances are you should be able to sell it for what you have in it.
