ARC Intake
Paying anything more than $300 for an intake isn't a smart decision unless you got plenty of cash sitting around. Don't let the bling or brand fool you into paying higher $ unless that's what you want. How much you wanna pay for something that draws cool air in? lol
I had the arc intake before my J's. I payed $400 for it and sold it for $450. I installed heat reflective tape to the back side of the intake box. Here in north carolina it is usually 90-100 degrees during the summer. One day when it was hot I did a test, I went on some back roads near my house and gave my car h3ll for about 15 mins, then I drove back to my house through town(lots of stopping and 25mph speed limit). When I go home I popped my hood, to my surprise no part of my arc chamber or intake was not hot to touch( it was warm, the intake manifold was alot hotter). If i had am IR thermometer back then I would have used it to get the temps. My point is the ARC intake is not the under hood "oven" that most people that have never owned one make it out to be.
just like everyone else is saying...this intake creates massive heat soak to the engine and gives you no gains...its a jdm bling item that looks good in the engine bay but other than that its completely useless...if you want the most bang for the buck then get a K&N FIPK or keep your stock intake box and put a K&N drop in filter in there...the Comptech is a great intake for the price; AEM and Fujita are good CAI but be careful during heavy rain seasons; if you plan on staying with your stock intake box you can also add a snorkel or AUT cooling plate to better enhance air flow
