Mmmmm...very interesting...sounds good, I wonder about cabin drone @ 3000-3500 RPM? now we need a basic stock catback tuned before & tune with DT-S after dyno....

I got 18hp changing from berk 70mm/hks 75 to asura 3 inch HFC/dts. Not sure how much was due to the HFC.... But my car is definitely more livable... HKS was way too loud for my setup (CR with KW high boost). Still drones from 3k to 4k as the cr doesn't have much of sound insulation...almost stock quiet below 3k.

^^^good to see HP gains from someone at last... I always like Ark's approach to a quiet single.. a whopping 40lbs for a single is more on the heavy side for a single if say...but I'm still in the market & interested though...I'm one of those willing to give & take.. I'll take the extra weight compared to other after market singles that are lighter cus its still lighter than OEM anyways..but one of the most important of all, the noise will make all the difference.. I will jump the wagon as soon as some dynos are shown for HP gains, another very important thing for even considering a single over a dual.. must have gains.. Make it happen ARK...

Just received my exhaust in the mail and was wondering one thing. On the piping where it mates up with the cat/test pipe there is a large opening with a screw on cap there. What exactly is this port for?

That is the "bandaid" for cars that don't have the OEM catalytic converter. Basically, if you have a test pipe or HFC, the Helmholtz chamber will not be effective at removing drone. So Ark added that port to enable the use of an add-on J-pipe (quarter wave resonator). They haven't shown any pictures of it yet, but I believe the J-pipe will be about 30 inches long. IMHO, this whole design is silly, since nobody who cares about performance would want a uber-heavy 3" single with the stock cat!

performance is better than looks to me...to each their own...there will always be someone who has their own opinion about a certain product whether it be the price, look, performance gain, name brand, etc...but thats all they are...just opinions to me...if i built my car based on what other owners felt were "better" in their minds...then i might as well have built the car up for them and not me

Thats just it. There are 20 other good single exhaust's that weigh less than half as much as this one, give just as much or more power, and don't have a huge eyesore hanging in an odd, clearly visible place under the bumper. Trust me your gonna get sick of explaining why your car has one empty cutout on the left side, and what the hell that is hanging down in the middle. But if you like it, thats all that matters anyway.
