ARP Extended Wheel Studs and Matching Lug Nuts

Default ARP Extended Wheel Studs and Matching Lug Nuts

Hi all,

So, three of my wheel studs on the front passenger side sheared off two days ago. I was driving with my girlfriend while this happened and I got scared to death: something like that can cause serious damage to the car, but more importantly, it can cause serious damange to us. In response, I'm going to do a complete change of all the wheel studs around the car. Maybe overkill, but I drive pretty aggresively (I mean, who doesn't in a S2000?) and this would give me significant piece of mind.

I'm aware that the hub bearings need to be changed when this is done. I opted to go with ARP extended studs because I read around here that they're stronger than OEM studs. My problem is choosing lug nuts for these studs to fit OEM wheels. I know that any lug nuts I choose must be of the ball end type to fit the OEM wheels (I like the OEM look). I need 12x1.5, ball seat, lug nuts that will fit the extended ARP wheel studs and OEM wheels and...well, I'm having a hard time finding them.

Do any of y'all have experience with this? Could any of y'all provide some suggestions? I'd like to be sure and order the right products from the internet the first time to get my car back from the shop quickly.

I'll give you a "significant piece of ....." my mind - you drive too aggressively and, unless you are doing it on a track, you are going to kill yourself or somebody else sooner or later. If you are tracking, then that is a different matter - in that case and for the same reasons (so you don't kill yourself or somebody else) you need the strongest studs you can get. Since you like the OEM look, why don't you just get stock studs and drive less aggressively. If you track, good luck in your hunt for replacement lugs!

You can get the proper open ended lug nuts here but they're nothing super fancy. I've also seen washers that are made adapt the aftermarket taper seat to ball seat.

I think you have to figure out why the oem studs broke in the first place. if you replace all the studs with aftermarket equipment, but the installation of lug nuts is incorrect (tightening with an air gun), then those studs might break as well

these r my arp studs compared to my oem studs. i broke about 3 on right rear so instead of just replace the 3 i replaced all 10 in rear. long but stronger than oem. pain to install but def worth it! when i have my ap1 wheels, they stand out but when i have my 18's on u cant even see them.

I suggest you change all your lug nuts as well, it's cheap insurance. I busted a stud last year, replaced all 5 on that rr hub, then busted another this past summer on same side. Likely a bad lug nut, I always use a torque wrench when installing wheels.
