Also what does everyone think when comparing say the ASM to a strut bar + x-bar as separate units. You could save a couple hundred bucks buying them separate for instance spoon strut $169 + Spoon Sports Chassis X-Brace 219 = $388.

It seems to me that almost all strut bars would perform about the same as long as they hit the same points.
they don't strengthen the same areas. different types of products.

again, i strongly suggest not buying ti reinforcement bars. go for aluminum, steel, or carbon.

yeah, an x-brace is not the same as the "x" in a 4-pt strut bar.

the 4pt Strut bar goes in the engine bay.

the Spoon X-brace goes underneath the car.
Spoon Strut bar is a 2pt strut bar.

you can install the 4pt struct bar (ASM, S2X, or T1R) together with your Spoon X-brace that goes underneath.

hope that clears it up.

Oh ok thanks...

So with plans of S/Cing the s2k in the future, I will probably go with a non-TI strut bar for reasons discussed above, and only a 2pt version so I do not take up the addition space needed for s/c....

Would adding an x-brace make much of a difference to stiffen the front in addition to the 2pt strut?

Basically, I think I will keep my suspension stock but I would like to stiffen it a bit hence the strut bars and such. At the same time I have been told not to change the sway bars with stock suspension as it can make the car "twitchy".

i think the use of reinforcement bars are controversial on this board. personally, i have them all (front / rear tower bars, x-brace, "ladder" brace, rear bottom brace, roll bar/cage)--i don't know if it's just mental or what, but it does feel stiffer to me, and provides some extra feel. but again, could all be in my head--but whatever works right?... ha ha. the car's structure with all the mods is certainly much more rigid than any other previous car i've owned though--that difference is definitely noticeable.

as for sway bars, they have to be matched to how you setup your car (rims/tires/suspension). but i think stock is fine until you know how you want to change them.
