Just ordered K&n FIPK for my ap2, ive read a couple threads about cooling plates and i like the AUT cooling plate. Is the cooling plate needed? can i wait? or should i just buy one? Opinions?

The cooling plate won't do much (if anything) for your intake. At this point, it is more of a visual mod then a performance one.

I agree with mzurk. Looks good, but any performance effect is minimal at best. That said, I love my AUT.

Im sure this is not news to anyone, but the CF AUT fleabay cooling panel is kinda a pos. It's ultra-thin and VERY flimsy. They use a very brittle clear coat on the absolute min fiber.

I attempted to install mine and it cracked around the release latch =(. I think everyone knows the fitment on these is not great, but I wasn't expecting it to break on install.

So these things look pretty sweet, I'll give them that- but it's a cheap product. Please be very careful when and if you install one and consider spending your $180 elsewhere.

I agree that the plate is flimsy but does AUT even make these plates anymore? I've seen a few different replicas that look identical to the AUT.

Yeah, I think these are all copies of the AUT design. I don't really know who supplies the eBay sellers. Happy to report they are going to exchange my cracked one (more of a bubble defect than a crack, I sorta misspoke).

It's a visual mod at any point - the stock air guide already directs all the air flow into the radiator

Well they sent a new plate out and it fit even worse than the first one. So both are going back!

The return label is being sent directly to Autotechnic, so these are they.

I think I could have gotten this product to fit if I took a dremel to it. But one side of the plate when resting on the car was nearly and inch higher than the other side- so it would have constantly been under pressure so it would be even more prone to crack.

Also modifying a $160 brand new part with no warranty? No thanks.

Going with this aluminum one that is less than half the price and can't crack! http://gladfab.myshopify.com/product...-with-hardware
