Default ball joint question for racing

Well this is my question for anyone of you who track or drag race. I am wondering if i should upgrade my ball joints to buddy club or spc ones. Can i just put brand new aftermarket oem replacements. I will mostly drag or just drive the car around but need to make sure the ball joints don't effect traction. I putting down about 570 and 505tq.

Will good oem ones do the job for me or is aftermarket ones needed? Just incase im running a 285 drag radials also. Car is only lowered about 1.5 inch.

The only reason you would need ball joints like the buddy club ones is if you road race and need to correct your roll center due to the car being excessively low. If your current ball joints are not bad, then don't change them.

Ball joints are for lowered s2000's and auto cross/ road racing. More stress is put on stock ball joints when lowered and the roll center is thrown off. It doesn't hurt to upgrade to buddy club if you really want to.

well really running 285s and no autocrossing for me. I guess some new ones should be good. Will a 1.5 inch drop make a difference

If its a drag car than it won't really make a difference. When the car is experiencing hard cornering when lowered that's where it would matter more.

If you feel that roll center correction may benefit your toe/camber curve under compression, rear roll center correcting ball joints may help.

Please understand that these aftermarket balljoints are not intended as a 'heavy-duty' setup intended for high HP applications. Their purpose is to correct geometry after lowering a car. It's not necessarily any stronger than a OEM setup.

(I dont think this guy gets the plot), in plain english, its for excessively low car cornering, not for straight line.
