none of those power mods will do anything without tuning the ecu to work best with those air flow conditions. the fact that so few mentioned a tuning upgrade is frankly, quite shocking.
Even with a tune, the bolt-ons aren't going to add much. The tune is really best left for higher end N/A or FI projects. A tune on a stock S will give you better power midband but it's not necessarily going to be the 'best bang for your buck,' especially since anything below 05 requires a full EMS.
and yet, a tune and a pipe will get you a quicker and more responsive car, which is the 'bang' in the bang for the buck, and can be done for just about $1000 or less. 20+ lbs of torque across the midrage and better acceleration and throttle response that 'buck' will be pretty hard to beat. even tires will cost about the same, and the oem tires are darn good for street driving. so yes, tune and a pipe are AWESOME 'bangs' for the 'buck' ... if you want high hp, the S is not the way to go for the 'buck' in the first place.

True, but really depends on the year. If he has an 06+ than the flash would be worth it. If he has 05 or older, you can only tune with an EMS in which case it would be best to get the bolts on first and then tune it.

Even with a tune, you are not increasing hp much and the extra torque you do get is more in the midrange. While it is noticeable, it isn't really giving you much for what you spend. Neither are the bolt ons though, so its really a toss up.

just depends on what the op means by bang. performance overall and better driveability and acceleration, or just more top end power. if the former, and an 06+, i think we all know where to look. if the latter, then the best bet is to trade for a higher hp car or invest in a turbo
