Default battery disconnect?

Hey guys,
I was wondering if i need to unplug my battery after installation of new aftermarket parts.
Cuz I read somewhere i need to reset my ECU by disconnecting the battery.
My S is 2005 and i have a catback exhaust and a Beak HFC.
Thanks guys.

I like to disconnect the battery everytime I work on anything to do with electronics. I don't think you need to do that installing a catback.

Either pull the ECU fuse or just leave it alone. The car will re-learn the fuel/timing maps slowly.

What's the difference between disconnecting the battery and just unplugging the ecu fuse??

Excuse my ignorance..

Unplugging the battery, will generally give you a hassle with the radio if yours is stock. You'll have to get the radio code, which requires a few loops that is just more headache than necessary. Unplugging the ecu for a few minutes, simply cleans out the ecu of fuel/timing it's learned, without effecting any other electronics in the car. The ecu generates an average of historical data, and averages it with the current. The S ecu is slightly arcaich in the timing department.

No it's not necessary, but it takes zero effort and virtually no time, and for that reason I think it's more useful to do that than fight a year(s) worth of history.
