Default Best brand final drive?

Hey Guys,

I'm looking into a 4.77 final drive for my 00 ap1. Was wondering if you had any suggestions on best brand to get? J's? RIcks? Maybe some good websites to check out for purchasing them?

Thanks so much.

I would get them from Puddy, he has gears for a really good price, and will install them and everything.

puddy told me that Kia/Mazda gears are the best. that's because they're made by the manufacturer of the Honda s2k stock final drive, so essentially Kia/Mazda gears are 'OEM'.

Go through Puddy, he is extremely trustworthy and does beyond OEM quality work/installs. he will tell you the truth about whatever you need to know, even if it means you won't be giving him your business. I'd take Ben's word over anyone's when it comes to diff/trans work.

um i think you mean Korean. and yes. but they out source and i am assuming from the earlier post; the people that make our 4.10 final drive makes the same final drives 4.77 for kia and 4.44 for mazda. and since the do fit to be oem they are very quiet and makes as much noise as or stock new gears.

If your serious about just buying the gears, you also may consider that you will want to get an install kit from Honda with the new shims, ect..Also make sure there is a shop or something in your area that can install them properly. It's not just a bolt in kind of thing. Thats why everyone here just contacts puddy, and usually has him install them. He also has cryo treated gears that are stronger.

I would shoot him a PM and see what he has to offer.

That is an amazingly low price.... Seems almost too good to be true, but after reading your attached read, it seems it is. Thank you for this.

I have a shop locally to install the Final Drive or I would def be sending it off to Puddy to have him do it.

I hope the part in that article about "driving at 9,000 rpm in Sixth gear doing 50 mph isn't exactly much of a thrill ride" is a bit more than a slight exaggeration.
