Black Rims Chrome Lip w/ Offset
Im looking to purchase black rims with a chrome lip and a bit of offset. I read a bit saying the back would cause a little problem, with the tires touching the fender or something if there was a big offset.
I have an 07, with 18" rims. Should I move up to 19" or stay at 18"s. What kind of offset would be ok?
Main question is what black rims look nice on a GPW and what would you recommend?
Thanks!

jvelas03,
I have a model year 2007 as well. The stock wheel offsets are 17 x 7.0 x +55 (front) and 17 x 8.5 +65 (rear). I purchased a set of Rota D2 rims that are black faced with a polished aluminum lip. The sizes are 18 x 8 x +48 (front) and 18 x 9 +55 (rear). I don't have any rubbing issues, but I'm also at stock suspension height. You can see the pix in my avatar, or email me at cnofar@gmail.com and I'll send you some pictures.
There are some things to consider when buying new wheels and tires. First of all, if you increase to 18" or 19" (instead of 17") then the sidewall of your tires must be thinner, but the key is the maintain the same overall diameter of both the wheel and tire together. If your tires are too "tall" then you may have a rubbing problem.
Second, if your wheel offset is too low (meaning decreased from +55 or +65) then this will push your wheel further outboard and your tire may rub into your fender. Many people have found it necessary to "roll" their fenders in order to make their wheel and tire set up work.
Thirdly, if your vehicle is lowered on different springs or coilovers, then you further have a chance of rubbing with low offset wheels.
My suggestion is to use the search function and find the rim picture gallery. In there I'm sure you can find people with black rims and possibly their wheel/tire specifications.
Hope this helps.
