Default Blown Shocks?

Hi all, just purchased a set of Koni Yellows used w/20k miles on them; i got the shocks but this is what im encountering as far as the condition of all 4 of them:

with the adj knob on full stiff:
i can compress the piston shaft by hand with some effort and the shaft doesnt return to its original position until after a while.

with the adj knob on full soft:
i can compress the piston shaft by hand with no effort and the shaft returns at a fairly normal speed to its original position.

this is with all four!! are they blown? are they supossed to be like this?

im assuming that at full stiff i wouldnt be able to compress the shock by hand at least.

Any info or thoughts,

Thanks,

its more of a 'impulse' thing...i think

if you were to try jump on one shock on full hard it prolly wouldnt compress much..its compressing cuz youre holding it slowly..since its just fluid motion in a buncha tubes with holes...if the hole is small, its naturally hard to compress...but it will compress cuz eventually the fluid will go through.

thats how i see it neway. ;p

if they are out of the car, u will be able to compress them so its normal, make sure they are dry in the piston area

When you put it on stiff your reducing the orfice area where the oil can pass through so its going to take longer for it to return. There is nitrogen gas in there that your also compressing, that is what returns it back. This is there to reduce the formation of bubbles in the oil which could dampen (haha a pun) performance.

Keep in mind that every I said can be completely wrong. LOL
