Broken weld on Buddy Club seat rail
The welds simply sat on the surface, there is no penetration of the metal below, definitely not acceptable.

Well, I took out my DSLR and took some better photos so I can show them to BC if they ever get back to me. Here are a few:
Here's the side that broke off... yeah, it's pretty scary.
If anybody else here has Buddy Club rails, could you take a look at the welds and see if they're this bad? I can't believe I paid $150 for this POS... the welds are going to be redone by a trustworthy local muffler/welding shop, but I will never buy a Buddy Club product again after this one.

That is really, really bad. Blast the paint off the whole thing and do some decent welds. Don't go to some muffler hack. Any machine shop, welding outfit or even tech school would love to show you how it should be done.

Wow, does anyone feel safe now with these? Afer all the belt is attached to the rail.
I'd send it right back to them and ask them to put a price on how much your life is worth......

I had this same problem with my Buddy Club driver rail. Had a shop (Ballistic Motorsports) re-weld all the feet. Scott (Twiztid) couldn't believe that none of the welds were worth a damn - not one of the 8 or so factory welds penetrated.
I bought mine 2nd hand, so I couldn't really go back to Buddy Club. But it was definitely not abuse, very bad welds.
I'll never buy Buddy Club anything after that. If that's how they weld the stuff that's life-saving, I don't want to know what they do the stuff that's not.

I ended up having a friend carefully re-weld the whole thing for me. BC never responded to my e-mail after I sent the purchase invoice, and I needed to be able to use my car.
I'll give BC a call tomorrow and let them know about the problem, and see what they say. Obviously I can't really return the rail now that it's been re-welded, but I don't really have time to go through the hassle of not having a usable car for a few weeks anyway (my OEM seat and rail are 4 hours away and I daily drive the S2000).
Anyway, I'll call them tomorrow and see what they're willing to do to make this right. I'll let everyone know what happens ASAP.
Can this thread maybe get a sticky? It appears I'm not the only one who has had this problem with Buddy Club parts, and people should know what they're getting into when they trust their lives to these welds.
