Default Can someone explain....

I always thought with a lightweight flywheel you would pay more for the lighter it is, but this doesnt make sense.

http://www.corsportusa.com/store/catalog/p...roducts_id=2672

$400 for 9.2 lbs

http://www.scienceofspeed.com/products/dri...orged_flywheel/

$345 for 8.5 lbs

http://www.advancedclutch.com/products/fly...px?prod_id=1273

$473 for 8.6

can someone explain why the lightest is the cheapest, and the heaviest Isn't much cheaper than the half pound lighter one?

is the Competition an inferior quality product?

probably the cost of the machining techniques...and by having a quick look at the specs the 3rd one is made of a different material...

Who told you the lighter it is the more expensive?
All depends on brand material etc. Just weight really doesn't mean anything in regards to price.

weight doesnt equal price.. like everyone said.. its all bout what was used to make them.. i would guess light weight ones would need strong material but at the same time light weight as well

And remember, its mass distribution that will make the most effect to the flywheel's purpose.

Whilst the prolite looks to have the best mass distribution for response, i'd go with the Science of Speed one.

It costs a lot less and is made from forged steel.

I have a Fidanza 7.8 lb flywheel i believe? it was the 1st thing i did to my car. and WOW it made a huge difference. It revs up much faster. The only problem is RPM Dropping between shifts. So you better be sure you have your rev-match down. Also, it is noisy, but that is a given with any aftermarket flywheel.

Check out Fidanza, they are much cheaper and i have over 30k miles on mine and no issues.

My buddy has a lingenfelter z06 and also switched from the lingenfelter recommended flywheel TO the Fidanza. he actually contacted lingenfelter and told them how much better the fidanza is and they said that there are a lot of people getting them because they are so much cheaper and usually lighter.
