Default Catalytic

Morning,

I need to replace the Catalytic Converter on my 01'. I am thinking of doing an after market piece for cheap however am not sure of the performance of such parts.

Has anyone attempted a test pipe replacement? If so what brand have you had success with?

Thanks!

how is the pricing? One of the main reasons I am thinking of staying away from stock is how expensive it is

Well since you have a 01, i would def. go with the Berk Test pipe. If emissions is a problem where you are, try their high flow cat. Its supposed to be almost as free flowing as the test pipe, but smog legal. That is of coarse if smog is an issue.

Anyhow, is there anyone that has the Berk high flow cat on a 2007? After talking with the guys at Berk, they say that the Check Engin Light will most likely come on on the 07's.. Is there an exhaust note change if running the stock exhaust? PLease say yes!!

IDK about the note, but for the cel many people fixed it by adding the mechanical fowler extentions onto the already extended o2 bung on the test pipe. In other words, they moved it even more farther away and fixed the cel with it.

I'd get either Berke or T1R, easy way to gain ya a few extra HP for around $100 or more. I sure wish CA wasnt so strict on emissions, otherwise I'd still have my test pipe. Be prepared for louder vtec too with a TP, esp. if u have aftermarket exhaust

I am ordering the Berk high flow cat because I want more flow, and its about $250. I can't bring myself to the test pipe thing because of smell and polution. I would recommend that if smog checks or bunny hugging is your thing.

Otherwise, I can not post a FS ad because I am not a paid member yet, but you can buy my stock one real cheap if you like. It has 29,000 miles on it. You'd have to PM me. I am looking to get about the cost of a new video game.

But test pipe is the cheapest route for new parts.
