Catalytic Converter
I have a 63mm berk hfc and smell the exhaust every time I back car out of the garage. But then I never smell it any other time.
I believe two factors are at play:
1. Chemical reactions prefers heat. When cold, the catalyst doesn't work as well.
2. Backing up results in passing through the noxious airborne substances you just created.
There was never any smell previously with oem cat in the years I spent backing the cold car out of the garage on a daily basis.
The fact that you don't smell exhaust from your hfc doesn't prove its not creating any odor, just that you rarely pass through it.
