Its not worth doing this without attacking the root of the problem the Pressure plate. I removed the cdv and it didnt help. If anything it slips a bit more. Removing this allows the clutch to engage faster, if the clutch engages faster it exaggerates the issue with the pressure plate causing extra slippage.

removing the cdv, doesn't that put more stress on the diff? does it make your diff more likely to break?

could you explain the pressure plate to me a bit? i get the flywheel and clutch but i always got caught on the PP.. i'm pretty sure the PP on the ap2 is heavier than that on a ap1, correct?

The pressure plate is the same for the ap1 and ap2. Part numbers are identical:

I cant get too technical with it but basically the amount of force the clutch can hold depends on the friction between the clutch plate and the flywheel, and how much force the spring puts on the pressure plate. The only problem is that the pressure plate cant handle the load so they put the CDV in to delay engagment slightly. If you take it out you will feel the weakness of the pressure plate more and will have to manually slow your shifts down yourself. Dont get me wrong you should remove the CDV but you should wait until you upgrade the pressure plate.

aftermarket pressure plates are made stronger clampning force. not sure if there weight has antyhing to do with it grabbing better.

I'm getting sick of my CDV on my 06 as well. It's fine and dandy when I'm driving like normal, I've adjusted my driving style to it. But it seems whenever I get a little excited, the rustang driver next to me now things I can't drive a manual, since I'm slipping all the way through second gear. I'd really like to see more opinions and such on what really needs to be replaced to make this a more reliable option for a well tuned N/A car.

my goal is to be supercharged my SOS but thats not until a few years when i actually have money. (i hate the economy)
anyways, for now, i'll be staying with the mods i currently have..
sounds like buying a aftermarket PP isnt really going to help me then, eh?
id rather not dump more money into the car as of now b/c im saving up for that S/C
would it be easier for me to just keep the CDV? it also seems to hinder me a bit @ the dragstrip because it drops me EXACTLY out of power band (& VTEC).. or at least, thats what it feels like.. i know power shifting w/o a CDV is a no no but i figure once every month or so shouldnt be a problem

Has anyone tried keeping their CDV but installing a AP1 flywheel?

Just curious if it will do anything..
