my goal is to be supercharged my SOS but thats not until a few years when i actually have money. (i hate the economy)
anyways, for now, i'll be staying with the mods i currently have..
sounds like buying a aftermarket PP isnt really going to help me then, eh?
id rather not dump more money into the car as of now b/c im saving up for that S/C
would it be easier for me to just keep the CDV? it also seems to hinder me a bit @ the dragstrip because it drops me EXACTLY out of power band (& VTEC).. or at least, thats what it feels like.. i know power shifting w/o a CDV is a no no but i figure once every month or so shouldnt be a problem
I am looking to do the exact same thing as you. Save up then buy SOS. Keep in mind you need to upgrade the Pressure plate for the S/C or it will slip even more and you will burn out your clutch very quicky. So think of this buy as preparing your car for the future S/C. If you wait until afterwards to do such a mod it is a pain in the a$$ as you need to pull apart the S/C to get to the tranny.

The ideal setup seems to be ACT pressure plate, OEM disk, and AP1 flywheel. This setup offers a stock like feel that grabs like crazy and will be good with the S/C. Wait until you install the new pressure plate before taking out the CDV. You need to replace the pressure plate before your clutch will stop slipping with or without CDV.

well i have two things to say to this.

1. you'll def need imho either a cm stage 3 with cdv removed, or cc stage 3 i think its the disc clutch they make with cdv removed if your going sc.

2. wait until some guys install there sos kits, and get them on a dynojet dyno. most of them are gonna be i think 6psi, or 8.5 psi. then compare those dynos to mine. then decide with blower you really want

Has anyone tried keeping their CDV but installing a AP1 flywheel?

Just curious if it will do anything..
Its a good idea to take out the CDV just not with the other stock parts still in. If you are going to spend 8 hours for labor to take apart and reassemble the tranny for the flywheel you should definitely change out the pressure plate.

Think of it this way. The pressure plate is making the clutch slip. The CDV is slowing the clutch engagement so that it slips less. Once you upgrade the pressure plate there is no reason to slow down clutch engagement so then it is ok to remove the CDV.

It was determined long ago with the AP1s that the pressure plate is the weak point for any s2000, but when honda introduced the CDV in the AP2s it confused everyone including myself to think that was the problem.

1.) From what ive read the stock disk is good for the amount of power blowers produce as long as you have a stronger pressure plate. many people used the mentioned combo without any issues on a s/c car. If i were squeezing any more juice out of it i will probably go with a stage 3 clutch as mentioned. but i just didnt want to deal with the extra clutch pressure, chatter, buzzing associated with such clutches if i didnt NEED to.

2.) 360whp is plenty for me. I do a lot of road course racing, i cant imagine much more power being functional around a track due to traction issues. Dont get me wrong it would way cool to have a s2k with over 400whp.

there is no way a stock disc will hold up to and last as long as my cm stage 3 under my power conditions, and i prolly have 370 now at best. do yourself a favor, if your gonna take it apart, just put in what works under a lot of abuse. not to mention, theres quite a few threads of act pressure plates causing problems.

mine does not chatter, clutch pedeal feels like stock, and the buzz is negligible if at all.
