why??

even most of the racers in the racing forums do not run cf doors. hard parkers. pft.
what's with the resentment? Alex (black spoon s2000) tracks his car and has cf doors along with another one in the racing and competition forum that I can't quite remember their name has cf doors as well.

it's like most aftermarket mods that people do to their cars that have a compromise. People switch out their steering wheels, change to aftermarket seats, all being things that compromise safety if not done right or with other precautions. CF doors are similar, but may have a higher potential damage (at a varying risk.....how often are you t-boned?)

Full cage and gut your doors... You can spend that money elsewhere and it'll be much more beneficial.

Hey i'm just wondering how safe it is to run CF doors on a daily driven car.
I know that the lotus exiges have cf doors, please chime in
the Exige can do this cause the doors don't have side impact beams in them, the door sill does. So, swapping out the doors isn't a safety issue.

Whereas on the S2000.. it is.

CFRP door bare = 15lbs per door
Stock door bare = 34lbs per door

Total weight savings 17lbs per door.

CFRP door Save = NO
ASM CF door Save = NO also
Stock door Save = Med Safe
Full Cage = More Safe

Why do I drive a death trap on wheels? Cuz I'm used to it from the old drag racing days and I'm not that bright. Lol

Old post, but I just found it while trying to google the bare door weight.

My bare CF doors are 11.4 lbs.
