Default CF Vinyl Wrapped Hood

I know this is totally a ricer thing to do, but I really like the look of cf hoods on silverstone, and i realize it's stupid to spend $600+ on a real cf hood. especially since the stock hood is already RIDICULOUSLY LIGHT. (found this out when I swapped in an AP2 engine, removed the hood and was like WTF is this made out of paper?)

I know understand that the purpose of cf hoods is to "reduce" the weight, but with our stock hoods, that much extra money to save 3 lb. really isn't worth it. to me, cf hoods are just for looks, and a cf wrapped hood achieves the same thing . . .right?

well what do you guys think?

and if anyone has done it already, pics please

i would think the hood would get hot as hell in the summer and melt the vinyl...

dont do it dood.
having naked CF is already rice enough.
having a sticker is just worse

Thought about this idea befpre but turned away from it. Vinyl gives off a matte look and only looks best on cars woth roofs such as a M3. Dont do it.

if it is done right then it looks great. if naked carbon fiber is so rice then why does Audi have naked carbon running down the side, why is the Koenigsegg ccx-r nothing but naked carbon fiber. many exotic cars have naked carbon fiber and they do it because carbon fiber is still hot $h!T.

if you are doing it just for the look then make sure you have it done properly. i agree our factory hoods are extremely light. switching out to a carbon hood that weighs only 1 lb less is just crazy for the price you have to pay. yes i do have a carbon hood but i got if for 100 bucks and i painted it red. i simply just love the style of the hood. the Wraptivo from meguires is the best wrap you can get. it uses 3M material and glue so it will not hurt your paint if you want to remove it and it will not melt in the sun.
Hope this helps

CF wrapped exterior panels are no worse then brembo caliper covers.

youre really comparing a honda to a audio r8 or a ccx??
come on. thats not even a argument.

i love my car but its no R8.

the carbon look is played out anyway imo.
if you get a carbon hood, i would reccomend getting it painted and maybe leaving carbon accents..

i think carbon on engine parts look good.. carbon on a ext parts, not so much (unless you have a black car)
imo

at the end of the day, its all in what you want to do to YOUR car.
i dont think it looks good but thats me. if you like it, thats all that matters.

A buddy of mine wrapped his OEM hood in carbon fiber vinyl wrap, I think it looks fine. I wrapped my seibon mg style cf hood in matte black and I like how it turned out. As far as heat goes, I have had no issues, it does not peel or bubble or anything, even after long trips in 100 degree weather. I did my hood, 2 trunks and a wing with a help of some friends. material cost me $180. If you like the look of cf, it is a very cheap alternative. depending on what brand you get, some look just like real cf.

check this out, this one is more of a satin finish but you get the idea. look around for the one you like best. https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/topic/903...-carbon-fiber/

if you really want to do this, i would think the hood would be REALLY easy to wrap.

you would def need someone to help out though.

Why not skin it in real carbon. Its very easy, just labor intensive. gotta wet sand and buff the resin and it would cost about 100 for supplies. But its real carbon, not a real sticker.
