Lots of very valid points here. However I am taken back to a best motoring video tht had a race between stock ap1 ap2 and modded ap1. The red ap1 was modded very lightly but did have (i think) 4.44 gears if I remember corectly. On the racetrack this for sure seemed to give a decent advantage in putting on the lead by being faster out of the corners (what I myself am most wanting). Not to mention the togue monster I think started with a 4.44 gear. I myself would really like a 4.44 rear gear to help with that initial out of the corner punch. Not saying this makes it a great choice for the op but saying for someone who is going to be tracking the car I honestly don't think gears (in addition to some supporting power mods) should be written off as useless. But that's just me. We are all entitled to our own opinions, it's a free country

Best gear ratio choice will depend *heavily* on the specific track! I.e., if 4.44s forces you to exit the most critical corner in a higher gear (say, 3rd instead of 2nd), and/or if they require an additional upshift on the straight, they can make you *slower*.

Optimal gears will be track-specific.
