Never understood why people cheap out on something as crucial as brake pads. If the OEM pads at Handa Accessories are too much ($75 for both axles) you shouldn't buy this car.

I agree, the EBC pads suck IMO. The only street pads I like better than OEM are the Porterfield R4S.

OP...what type of EBC pads?

I bought EBC yellow track pads and I love them. I only use them for the track.

They emit a lot of dust, squeal when the braking system is cold, and cut up my rotors pretty damn bad...but they're race pads so I dont care. They work very well on the track. You didn't buy the yellow compounds did you?

I use OEM pads for the street ($125 shipped from www.hondaautomotiveparts.com). How are the OEM pads expensive, BTW? You must have gotten some crazy quote. My EBCs were about the same cost, IIRC.

How does hawk compare? since we are on the subjuct..
I used HPSes on my S13 for regular and a little spirited driving (never got a chance to track the car). I wouldn't recommend them. Too much dust for a "street" pad. They heated up too fast on the track as well (my friend has them on his turbo miata).

I dont play the "high performance street" pad for street and track duty. I find it much easier just to switch pads back and forth.

I bought some Bendix front pads (can't remember if ceramic or semi) for $36 at Advance, and they have been excellent for daily driving. No squealing, good stopping power, and effective for that ocassional twisty run. The best part is that the brake dust comes out without much effort... a garden hose does it

I don't know why you would consider OEM brake pads that cos $45 too expensive. Especially considering they lasted 50k miles on the first set.

I'm sorry but thats just stupid. Hope you get the rotor problems fixed though. Too bad they are going to cost you about 4 new sets of OEM pads.
