Cheap Brake Pads
Preamble: I don't drive in heavy traffic, coast alot to save gas, basically I am very light on the brakes. I got 50K out of the original pads having worn off only about half of what was there to start.
ANYWAYS, having priced brake pads at the dealership, I was disappointed with their quote, especially with the cost of the rear pads. So I bought a set of EBC pads (E35UD537, E35UD829) that cost less than half, thinking that since my S2000 is a daily driver and since I don't run it at a track, the extra expense was unnecessary.
Well let me say I H-A-T-E these pads. They squeal whenever I am lightly braking. They emit about 10X more brake dust than the OEMs (that is not an exaggeration). And now, less than 2K miles later all of my rotors now appear to a couple small hairline cracks that run the full length of the pad contact area. (I cannot say the cracks were definitely caused by the pads, but since I put the pads on myself I don

oem pads are cheap and work extremely well
Axxis Ultimates have always been my go-to pad for aftermarket street pads. They're cheap (~$50 for most applications), and they perform decent. Pretty good initial bite and good to ~900 degrees. Coefficient of friction is pretty similar to the OEM Honda pad (according to my butt-o-meter
). Dusty, yes, but so are the OEM pads. I'm still on my stock pads though, and I think they're excellent.

I have a MY04 and I am sticking with the OE pads.
I have talked to other guys that use the auto zone pads and love it because once they wear down they just take 'em back and get a new pair for free.

haha, i got some duralast....super cheap, so cheap that i can take my old pads back to them and they give me my money back....and they work just fine for my daily driving needs....plus i can go like 2 weeks without having dirty wheels from the dust.

Never understood why people cheap out on something as crucial as brake pads. If the OEM pads at Handa Accessories are too much ($75 for both axles) you shouldn't buy this car.
