Default Clunk w/o axle spacers?

Just lowered my 07 to 2"-2.5" and I'm getting clunking sounds from both the rears everytime I hit any size sharp bumps. I didnt get that when I was lowered 1". Sort of sounds like how a blown shock would sound. I heard that most AP2s would get a slight whine before the clunk. Is it normal to start clunking right away? TIA for any insight

Yeah...you went too low. The car is bottoming out on the bumpstops.

I don't think I'm bottoming out yet. Its not even tucking and it rides fine. It makes that noise on any slight bump like the little lane divider reflectors. I'm ordering the spacers anyway but just want to narrow down the culprits of problem. My friend with the same 07 is even lower than mine but only has a slight squeeky noise.

How did you lower the car? Coils or just springs? Do you have helper springs? They sometimes do that sound when compressing... wich is normal.

Sorry, forgot to mention I have Koni yellow's on the lower ring and Eibach Pros. Everything is tighten down good. I went under again today to recheck all the bolts. If no one else is having this issue, I guess my issues are elsewhere. I'll order the spacers next week and see if it helps.

Did you get the clunking resolved? I have an '03 with eibach pros and koni yellow sports too. They're set to the upper ring perch and also have the clunk going slowly over speed bumps. I cleared everything from the trunk, tire, tools, and have retorqued the upper shock assembly mounting nuts. I've crawled underneath, checked and retorqued every bolt/nut I could get to; control arms, subframe, swaybar mounts. I even replaced the endlinks but the clunking is still there. Could the bump stops be hitting? I kind of doubt it. Curious how yours is going.

It somehow disappeared. I ended up disassembling both the rears, reinstalled, preloaded, then realigned again. That didn't help any. Only other thing I could think of that I did was turn the shocks to the softest setting for a few days to soften the ride. Then firmed it up to about 75-80% cause I was running more boost and needed it more firm to hold the power better. Don't know what else but, really glad I didn't have to live with an old car clunk on a one year old car. Gl on fixing yours.
