Default Clutch + Flywheel Suggestions?

Im looking to a small upgrade soon, I dont have huge power, just a stock Ap1, dont really need anything too crazy, but something I can do a little more sporty driving in.

ACT? Spoon? Fidanza? Thanks!

If you are just going to be NA with basic bolt-ons, the stock clutch is fine. However, if you want to be able to spin the tires, all you need is an ACT HD pressure plate with an OEM friction disk.

I would recommend going Exedy OEM clutch replacement with possibly a Spoon lightweight flywheel.

The reason why I would suggest the Exedy OEM replacement over that of the other brands is because Exedy retains close to OEM pedal feel yet have a slightly stronger clutch than that of the OEM.

Just my 0.2 cents!

Regards,

the SOS(science of speed) kit seems to be a great alternative as well, that is my next setup along with a lightweight flywheel

I love my ACT flywheel, you can find them cheap on Ebay too. Fidanza is an aluminum flywheel that has a friction plate riveted to it, which makes it a bit more likely to have problems imo.

I also think you should also consider the Science of Speed sport clutch. It's a heavier pressure plate, & an improved OEM disk. I have the SOS clutch with an 11.5 lbs flywheel, and I love it for the most part. It's a "sportier" feel, but not overkill for an NA engine. My only mods are intake and exhaust. Although sometimes it's really annoying while driving in stop and go traffic. I almost bought an ultra lightweight flywheel (8 lbs), and after driving with my 11.5 lbs... I'm very glad I didn't. Let me know if you want more info on how it drives compared to stock.

I am also not big on the idea of the aluminum flywheels. Although, there are people on here that have had no issues with them.

I absolutely hate my ACT. Although the pedal feel from the upgraded pressure plate is great, the clutch buzz makes me feel like I'm driving a 30 year old junker.

Actually it's the other way around. When the time comes to change the clutch and you need to resurface the flywheel, all you need to do to the fidanza is replace the surface disk.

"For the most part..."

What makes it really annoying in stop and go traffic? Anything besides this that contributes to "for the most part"?

I ask because I am planning on going with the SOS sport kit with an ap1 flywheel in my SOS supercharged '05.
