Default Clutch pedal mod

I laying in the driver side footwell zip tying a few wires and just doing a general glance at everything when I noticed these. They certainly can't be stock, right? Why would someone attach these to the clutch pedal? Would it have the effect of making the clutch pedal easier to push?

That is stock. The purpose is unknown to me.

Is that so? It almost looks like an afterthought.

Yes, stock. My assumption has always been to damp vibes. On motorcycle handlebars they add weights to the ends (bar end weights). Same principle.

Interesting, I never noticed that. I agree that it could help weight/dampen the pedal. I wonder if i have these on my 00-01 model when clutch buzz was an issue, or was something done on s2k after? I know they modified the clutch PP to address the buzz, but this may have been a combined effort. Only speculation. Im going to see if my clutch pedal has these and report back.

Me too, on my '03, '06 and '06. Looks like an afterthought or maybe engineering like mentioned though.

Just for a reference mine is an '05, which is obviously smack dab in the middle of your S's. When I saw the back of the pedal I had a quick wtf moment and immediately thought about posting here.
