coilovers! help needed
KW V2s or V1s would do the job for you. I have V3s and I love them. I use the car on the track, though.
If you're not going to track it, there are very few decent options as far as comfortable coilovers. KW definately fits the bill. They ride firm, but a comfortable firm...no smashing into bumps. It's a very controlled type of damping. I really like it. Definately more firm than stock, but probably close to as comfortable. V3s are around $1900 now?? iduno.
You could proabably do V2s for right around $1500.
I've heard good things about the Bisteins. I've never ridden on them, though.
The Tein Monoflex looks pretty solid. My friend's Flexes still ride great on his Miata after years and years of use/abuse. They're pretty comfortable as well. I had flexes on my S13 that didn't ride so great, but I think it was more the car than the coilovers.
A good quality spring on your stock shocks is another option. That would ride comfortable and there are a few springs out there that drop the car around 1''.
