Default the Daily Driver Damage files

I got this pm today and it gave me an idea for a helpful thread....

It would be great if others added their reviews of all the different aftermarket bumpers.

...i seen pics of your cwest type 2 bumper and it looks sick. i was thinking bout running the bumper only like your setup... i have a question though-

how often do you scrape?

and how durable is the bumper?

i live in los angeles too and im wondering how the bumper handles daily driving...
I live in Venice so I have really bad streets here...

the 2 areas I scrape are at the arrows in the photo...

The bumper isn't much lower than the OEM - but I am dropped on Bilsteins.
The main issue is that at these 2 points the V2 is much further forward than stock - this means some scraping.

I've been running it for around two years now (1st one on a non-factory car in USA according to C-westUSA ) and it's held up well -

I got backed into which ripped the bumper instead of just denting like an OEM would.

And I really need to re-glass those two points now - worn pretty bad

After the repair I'm going to make a splitter to take the damage from now on...

Overall:
the C-West V2 is pretty damn durable and doesn't fail in the real world.
But doesn't just bend with impact... it rips

how durable of a particular bumper is simply based on the material it's made of. Most authentic ones come in fiberglass (cf option as well but too balling haha), and fiberglass will not bend and simply cracks. Fixing fiberglass can be expensive if you want the job done nicely. I'd prefer replicas of good fit which are made in urethane since they are very flexible.

^^^ not necessarily true

1st: "most" authentic by definition means not all
---- example - Ings +1 is "hybrid aero"

2nd: resin quality and fiber content are very important to resilience
--- example - cwest is "PFRP" -- which is torsionally very flexible

3rd: urethane warps with temperature variations --- making it fine on some parts.. not so great on others

4th: "most' replicas are cheap fiberglass - poorly layed up and even more poorly molded

this thread is for objective, tested, real world info -
not just half assed, subjective hearsay.

omg thanks for the review!

i like how i you need to rock a full kit to run the version 2 bumper. it really looks great without having to throw on side skirts or a rear bumper.

im going to commit and buy this bumper.

hope i get to see you car in the area when i pass on through.
