Are you talking about getting rid of the cat and replacing it with a test pipe?

do you mean a hi-flow catalytic converter, or a test pipe? there are heaps of threads on both... search and ye shall find.

if it's neither of those, then..... what?

sounds like you want a resonated test pipe.

Thanks for your help and interest

I want a test pipe with a resonator but something that really does not restrict but that get the DB value a little bit lower!!

Thanks

Test pipes make the car louder if you have a cat in the car now.
If you have a non resonator test pipe than just pick up a resonated one and it will quite it down a little bit.

T1R makes a resonated testpipe but the resonator isnt filled with anything.. just empty space so it's still loud..

Im cutting the resonator soon, putting in some sound dampening material inside the resonator and re-weld it back to get th DB's down

I am not sure what exactly is in this case but it could be one of the following

1)fiber material burnt/blew away: typical result of low end "glass pack" resonator

2)chambered design: direct air flow to muffler the noise, lots of OE applicator and older muscle car resonator are build this way, not very likely to be in this case

3) straight thru design: nothing "in" the path of the gas flow but there's an exposed chamber with perforated screen on the sidewall.
