Thumbs up Diff Mod... I want it bulletproof.

Thinking of doing a diff upgrade next now that I am turbo'd and am considering either the Inline diff conversion kit OR the PuddyMod built diff... what do you all think? Comments please.

Thanks

Well, as far as price goes, I believe the PuddyMod built differential costs less.

From what I understand, they will both handle a lot of abuse.

Like it's been said nothing is 100% bulletproof but it is unlikely you will brake the PuddyMod rear.

The r200 diff swap from inline can get a little exspensive, there kit does not include a diff. you will have to find one at a junk yard ( 90-96 300zx NON turbo with ABS) not to hard to find but you should have the diff checked out befor install.......

Inline Install kit (1000 hp axels) 2900+shipping
R200 diff 100-400 depending on junk yard and cost of having it checked out....
This diff has a 4.09 ratio and i'm not to sure of the avalible ratios....

If your planing on making on huge power go with this set up

The puddymod is also a great diff...... Ideal for N/A and FI up to 500, but this retaians your stock driveshaft and axels which have their limitations
Much better price

so if I went puddymod and upgraded my driveshaft and axles then it would be even better... correct? I am FI turbo'd and should be putting down in the ballpark of 500-550whp once I'm all tuned and setup properly... would a puddymod and upgraded axles/driveshaft handle this power without failing? With the occasional launch in there?

how about a comment from the puddydaddy himself? Do YOU think your diff would stand up to my needs?

Correct me if I'm wrong but after you upgrade your axles and driveshaft ALONG with the puddymod diff, your right in the inlinepro 1000hp cost territory at which point it makes sense to get the beefier diff anyway.

Also FWIW, IP has a 600hp R200 diff kit for around 2500ish I believe.

true... I figure that getting the inline kit and a good used diff run through and in the car would be around $3500 or so. On the other hand the PuddyMod Built diff is totally rebuilt and costs $2100 so if I got the driveshaft shop to build me some 600hp axles and driveshaft I could have the whole works for $2800-3000 and have a freshly rebuilt diff as opposed to a used one out of a salvage yard... just something to consider, I am sure a fresh R200 and the inline 1000hp kit would be the strongest and I'm not one to bargain shop as I will spend money when its needed but I think alot of the puddymod diff and if it would withstand my abuse with 500ish whp and the occasional rough launch and not give out on me I would be happy to spend the $500 or so elsewhere... just something I have been kicking around. I am not an expert in this area and so wanted the opinions of the board to help lead me to the correct choice, there is alot of knowledge here!

Thanks for your input, any others?

remember, kids, strengthening the weak point only moves the fuse.

exactly. but on the S2000 where does the weakpoint surface once you make the diff and axles stronger?
